Riviera Maya was originally named the Cancun - Tulum corridor, but in 1999 it was renamed as Riviera Maya. The municipality of Solidaridad includes the whole of the official Riviera Maya from Playa del Carmen in the north and south to Tulum and extending to 40 km inland with the border with Yucatan state.
A lot of activities into the most visited locations include, snorkeling, swimming in cenotes, dolphin swim, zip-lines, scuba diving and a lot of guided tours. Archeology is also a big tourist interest in this area, including the most important archeological sites such as Tulum on the coast, Coba and Chichen-Itza. The ecoparks of Xcaret and Xel-Ha, also have inside of them, some smaller archeological ruins as part of their attractions, but these natural water theme parks will provide you the diversity and range of activities that you need, such as swimming with dolphins or a mexican spectacular night show.
